Chernobyl might not be your typical holiday destination but that’s exactly where a group of Creeslough men decided to visit for a couple of days.

The group who play cards every week in Rose’s bar, have been going away on trips for the past few years.

The group flew into Kiev and made the journey into Chernobyl as a day trip. On the 26th of April 1986 there was an infamous nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The group visited what was left of reactor 4 where the main explosion took place.

The Chernobyl disaster is considered the worst nuclear disaster in history and is one of only two nuclear energy disasters rated at seven—the maximum severity— the other being the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.

Not your typical weekend but enjoyable all the same.
